For the price, size, and quality – you can’t find anything better. I work as an IT Admin for a fast growing startup with nearly 200 employees. I come from a Cisco Telepresence shop and came into a company that had no video conferencing setup but one Zoom Room. I was given the task to improve collaboration with remote workers and our newly acquired office across country. Logitech PTZ cameras are awesome but have a price tag of $799+ and are likely to be phased out but their new Rally Cam. Both of these options are fantastic but require effort in screwing in a mount, making sure it’s level, and the price tag is a little higher to deploy to 20+ meeting rooms.

I came across Huddly and was impressed instantly by how small it was and it reminded me of a GoPro for meeting rooms. I also love that they’re a startup because that means support will generally be pretty solid. If you have problems with Logitech cameras, you have to go through their support which isn’t the best. The camera arrived to my office and I setup a Zoom Room with it within 15minutes. That’s it. I just mounted a Mac Mini on the back of a TV, ran my mic cable, and put the Huddly cam on top of the TV and moments later – a fully functional Zoom Room was setup to enable employees to have high quality meetings. I will admit, that if you’re used to Logitech PTZ or Aver image quality, you will be disappointed slightly but it really isn’t that big of a deal as the quality is still way better than a small webcam. I set these up in an 8 person room with a long table and it wasn’t too bad but I’m only go to deploy these in 5 person rooms or smaller from now on (hence their name, "Huddle" haha…"

After some initial problems with the focus, the folks at Huddly really went above and beyond to make things right. They made an upgrade to the software and now it works great. The thing we really like about this camera is the the ability for it to get a wide shot, move around and focus very clearly. Since we have weekly Zoom meetings, this is perfect.

I spent a good week trying to work with the Huddly GO but found the video output was extremely noisy, let’s not even bring up my testing in a dimly lit boardroom scenario where it fell flat on it’s face. The image seemed to be of low resolution no matter how I interfaced with the product. Now that the negativity is out of the the intelligence built into the product is very impressive and can make your life much easier for meetings but I’m not sure if the quality it delivers is how you want to be presenting yourself. It’s not bad… but it’s not good.

Honestly, I was extremely hesitant on purchasing this camera because I saw no videos on YouTube reviewing it, outside of the company themselves and there were zero Amazon reviews on it as well. With that said, I took the leap and invested in it to give it a shot…I am not disappointed at all with it, in fact I absolutely love it. I use it for streaming purposes, so I was at first concerned on whether or not it would work with the program OBS…it did work! Another thing to factor in is that if you are concerned about it capturing your entire body in a very cramped/tight space, it most likely will in your situation. I needed my entire body to fit in the frame from about 2.5-3 ft in distance and it nailed it. The previous camera I was using was the Logitech C922, one of the popular cameras used for streamers. While the quality on that camera is fantastic, it was not wide enough for my needs. Speaking of quality, this camera runs at 720p at 30fps. I do wish that I could get 60 fps out of it, but it is not a deal breaker in my opinion. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for something that can fit your entire body in the frame from a very close distance.

I have been using this camera for a few months and we have deployed several of them in our office. They have been a great addition to options we had available to us. I am eager to push these cameras to the lints and learn what more about them in some practical scenarios.

It is difficult to reach the support team since camera is very glitchy. Camera goes in and out.

Very happy with this purchase for an office meeting room. Incredible quality and experience. The wide angle lens and image quality make the price worth it many times over. Huge improvement over the webcam we used to have – has me, my coworkers and the people we’ve been speaking to impressed.

Camera just works as stated, plug and play. Were running Zoom and Zoom Rooms software on a windows computer with a large external display. I also tested it on my MacBook (see photos). Camera mounts easily on both setups, but I will be purchasing a longer cable for the external display.

  8. Jun Lab

We are an academic lab at University of California and we were looking for a webcam that is suitable for conference calls. The problem is that none of the popular webcams such as the ones from Logitech have been properly upgraded to USBC macs, perhaps because all new macbook pros come with builtin webcams.

After extensive search, we discovered, Go from Huddly. Based on the specs and descriptions of what this camera can do (zoom in/out; wideangle etc; blazingly fast video with USB-C), we decided to give it a try despite what initially appeared to be a hefty price tag for a “webcam”.

Initially, we were very disappointed. We were able to use the camera in Skype, but the software from Huddly did not recognize the camera. What that means was that we were not able to update the camera firmware, and the field of view selection from the wideangle view was unusable. Furthermore, when used with Skype, the camera generated a lot of noise, sometimes lagging in video transmission, just like one of the customers reported below.

We contacted Huddly, and they were extremely responsive. We went through several rounds of troubleshootings, tried different cables and so on, but the problem was not solved. In the end, Huddly replaced the camera itself, and the new camera worked exactly as advertised. The features are exactly as advertised, and all the problems (noise, lags etc) completely disappeared.

If you are used to logitech webcams or the ones with your laptops, this camera is on a different level. If you do a lot of conference calls, with multiple people in the room and you want to show the whole group in a wide angle, you would appreciate what Huddly cameras offer. Just note that this camera does not have a builtin microphone, but for conference calls you probably want to get a dedicated wireless microphone anyway.

Overall, we are extremely happy with the camera and Huddly as a company. They are located in Norway, so they walked us through troubleshooting processes and in the end replaced the camera with international UPS/DHL pick up means they take their product and reputation seriously. That’s exactly the kind of company we want to support, and we wish every success for their future.

Great looking image, the digital pan/zoom controls via their applet is a plus as well. Very discrete size and nice looking case. Intelligent image flip detects whether it’s mounted right-side-up or upside-down. Significantly better image than comparable HD webcams from the "big L". As far as things I’d like to see to make it more integration-friendly: A 6ft+ right angle USB-C cable coming standard, rather than the 2ft straight one. USB 2.0 support would also be a major plus.

    **UPDATE**
Huddly is on the ball! It would seem my most important wish has already been granted! Someone from Huddly reached out to me after writing this review and informed me that there is a firmware update (released back in May) for the camera that enables USB 2.0 support. This is wonderful news! 3.0 is obviously preferred and will yield a better image, but there’s times we’ve needed to extend/switch or work with devices that simply cannot handle 3.0.

I could not use on Facebook taping or on Youtube taping. The Logitech webcams always easily booted up. Then it has some sort of special cord, and they want a fortune for it. I forget what it is called. If you buy a clone connection cord it seems like there is a problem with it. Maybe you can use the Huddly if that is all you do is work in technology.
