This This is a very efficient multifunction printer

Total nightmare! This printer is not even wireless and they will not accept refunds. It was the worst.
Zardoz –
It’s fast, and when properly configured pretty secure. Security is a real necessity since I have it wired on my LAN.
My issues:
1. When scanning or copying it double feeds much more than my Canon unit. So I have to count pages all the time.
2. Configuration is a PIA and the documentation is really POOR. The Wizard does not leave the machine secure.
3. The software feels like something 10 years old. NOT very intuitive!
4. If you use Ethernet, cannot use WiFi Direct. A real limitation! If someone has figured this out PLEASE let me know!

The Lexmark High Yield toner does 15,000 Copies and I still have in our front office the Cannon that uses a toner 119ii only does 6,400 copies High Yield Toner. I can’t wait for the cannon machine I have in our front office to go so I can replace it with the same Lexmark that I bought. It has many features that I’m still learning but we love it and it’s the best purchase we every made on a Fax / Copier / Scanner!!

This is a difficult review because I want to give the printer itself a 4 star rating for overall features. I’m giving Lexmark 1 stars for their policy and warranty service. So for what I was able to test and use i’ve gone with an overall score of 3. I’ll explain…
I’ll first start off with the bad….the printer arrived damaged. Seams were popped, the top A.D.F. is broken, there is a horrendous noise when starting up and during any printing. The inside where the ink goes had chipped pieces of plastic. The back where you can open a compartment to remove jammed paper was busted off in the box.
I called Lexmark customer service and while the rep was very polite and wanted to help. The senior person who makes the final decisions wasn’t so helpful. After sending photos of all the problems and having the rep hear the horrible loud sounds on the phone, they didn’t want to send a new printer.
I know this is a big expensive printer but it was damaged badly and i think it was damaged before shipping because many of the pieces of tape that is meant to secure parts during shipping weren’t attached and or the tape was loose. Yes, I know things get handled roughly during shipping but, i’ve ordered many things online including other high end printers over the years and i’ve never had something come this badly damaged. So if it was damaged during shipping they someone or multiple someones really threw this large very heavy box around or it fell off the truck or conveyer. Something major happened to it.
So as of right now, they are still “deciding” what to do with this printer. They have over 6 major things to replace and try to repair which will probably cost more to send out a tech (which they want to do) and then repair the entire scanning unit and full top piece. Internal gears and fans, back plate and then what ever busted pieces in the cartridge are are. This printer will have to be taken apart quite a bit to get things fixed that are noticeable, not knowing what internal damage there is.
I did try to test out the printer as best as possible but printing was a nightmare with jams and noises. The scanner being the top is busted didn’t let me fully scan things properly and there are major lines through the paper meaning there is a lens problem too.
As for all the features this printer has….they are great. lets you print almost any kind of paper, there’s also a flip down special tray to do paper, envelopes or other kinds rather than pulling out the main paper tray. It has wi-fi, usb, network. I was able to setup with wi-fi and it was a quick one minute setup. you have the ability to print from any computer once the driver is installed. It also can from cell phone, iPad too.
There are so many features i don’t think i could get thru all of them but one that is cool is that you can scan a document and have it directly email to someone. You don’t have to save it to a usb drive or your computer first and then send it. you send it right thru the printer. All the standards of fax, copy, sheet feeder, scan. There’s all sorts of configurations for each too. The sheet feeder has a nice large capacity so you can put a 50 page doc or more if needed.
You can add a staple function too as there are many upgrades you can do to this machine. Also add on other paper trays for different paper sizes or colors etc. There’s lots of upgrade accessories for this machine. Many parts like rollers etc can actually be replaced so you don’t have to buy a new machine when certain parts wear out.
Another negative is that there is no printed instruction/feature book. You can print one from the menu screen but its 267 pages long….there are no quick guides either….only the driver disc and a paper showing what tape and plastic protectors to remove before using.
So, is this a good printer…I think it is but if you get a damaged one from packing or shipping problems, just return it to amazon, don’t go thru lexmark to handle it as they aren’t great at doing the right thing. Or just find another company that has a better policy of replacing a printer that is this far damaged. P.s. I told them to take the old one in exchange for a new one…have the tech that they want to send make this transaction so i’m waiting to hear back in a few days.
Dr. Stuart Gitlow –
This is a large monochrome printer which can copy, scan, fax, and print. Setup was uneventful following the illustrative directions provided on a single sheet of paper and removing protective tape from in and around the unit. Turning on the printer for the first time leads to a quick setup wizard, interacted with via the full color touchscreen. This then encourages you to download the Lexmark app, through which you can connect the printer to your wifi. Lexmark has this down perfectly and you actually can complete the wifi connection in under a minute, just going to show that so many other companies have missed the boat on this process. I took a moment to check the firmware version (the installed version is newer than the latest posted on Lexmark’s website), to print out the quality control pages (everything looked perfect), and to access the online connectivity to set up the energy saving and hibernation controls.
With a printing speed of roughly 50ppm, a fast duplex ADF, and rapid fax connectivity (it even dials faster than my older combination printer/copier/fax), this is perfect for a small business environment or a home-based business where you don’t want to wait more than four minutes to print out 10 copies of your 20 page business plan. The footprint of this printer is no more than for under-$100 printers; it’s simply taller, so it doesn’t take up significant desktop space. The vast majority of the time, it’s not drawing any more power than the lesser printers, so your power consumption won’t go up. And I didn’t see the lights dim even on my older circuits when this powered up to print.
Prints are crystal clear, and there’s never a question that laser output of tiny black text is far superior to inkjet output. It’s absolutely crisp. The grayscale here is nicely implemented and illustrations look as good as they can on a 600dpi monochrome output. Copy speed is impressive as well and the ability to make 50 copies of a handout in a minute is a game-changer in many ways.
The downside….I tested this out with a Mac-based network. The Mac added the printer software rapidly and we had no trouble printing at all. Scanning, on the other hand, doesn’t work with Apple Preview, at least not under MacOS 10.14.3. This is puzzling, since I’ve had no trouble scanning single or double-sided with another one of Lexmark’s new printers, the MC2535adwe. The Lexmark site is not particularly helpful and I suspect Lexmark’s IBM roots may be at work here – could it be they don’t fully test their printers in-house with MacOS? One star off for the Scan issue, which I’ll give back if the problem is something on my network’s end. I’ll do some additional testing with a hardwired connection in the coming days to see if I can solve this.
Find another person to help you unpack and move this into place. While one person can carry it, just, it’s ungainly and a little extra help up and down a flight of stairs certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Dedicated copy machines bit the dust some years ago, probably before that was due, but here we have a printer that has copy capabilities exceeding that of the older dedicated copy machines.
Finally, the documentation….um….there isn’t any printed documentation with the printer beyond the one sheet set-up document. Not even a “Welcome to Lexmark” pamphlet. I suppose they think that only the main office IT person will see this and that he or she really doesn’t need another manual. And yet some of us use printers like this at home and want a real manual. The online documentation is good but not great and I suppose now that I have a fast printer, I can just print off the online pdf pretty quickly to leave next to the printer for quick reference. Still…
No star markdown since I can’t justify going below four stars for such a great printer. And I feel confident I’ll figure out the scanning issue, or that it will be fixed in a future software or firmware upgrade.

Unfortunately the Fax connection would not connect and it would not pull envelopes from front tray. These are very basic functions that should not need trouble shooting.

No cons. Love this MFC- very very fast output, easy to set up and use. Touchscreen feels quick and responsive. Does not calibrate all the time like the HP MFC’s.
