After a bad experience with the JBL eon one, I purchased a pair of the Bose S1 Pro’s and couldn’t be happier. There is a reason this is the go to for battery powered PA speakers. Bose has a reputation for quality and this certainly did not disappoint. The 6″ woofer is more powerful that I would have expected, and fills a room nicely, but with the way the speaker is EQ’d, it will also distort long before the mids and highs. I found that when you really need volume, using a separate subwoofer with a built in high pass crossover yields great results, but this is only necessary for very large rooms or outdoors when a lot of volume is needed.

I purchased this for small group seminars so our Presenters could be heard at the back of the room. It was a little out of our budget, but I felt it was multipurpose. We will also use this for our annual picnic to play music. I haven’t used the battery yet. Didn’t want to chance it going dead in the middle of a presentation so I plugged it in. I think I will also invest in a mic stand so the Presenters will not have to walk around holding the mic for an hour. Music sounded awesome as you would expect from Bose. User friendly. Bluetooth worked great. I don’t karaoke, but you could with this set up. Rugged design. Integrated handle and not too heavy. Overall, it was exactly what I was looking for and I expect it to last many years.

  5. Casey W.

Worked great for 2 events completely on battery power. Sounds good, can be extremely loud, and works fine with a wired microphone.

The bluetooth connection can sometimes take a bit of fiddling to get connected, depending on the phone.

    Overall, a quality product.

Edit: this thing is still going strong. Only problem remains Bluetooth being slightly annoying.

I received item fast. There was only a quick start instruction sheet. I had to go online to pull up a manual that providing instructions on how to charge battery etc. The sound is amazing as I expect from Bose. I’ve only used the speaker for 1 event. After about 6 hours of music, there were breaks (brief pauses) in the music as if the battery might not have been fully charged. At least I am hopeful that was the case and I don’t have the same experience my next event. I have 2 other types of Bose speakers I use for other occasions and I have always been satisfied with the sound of Bose. I expect this system to be equally satisfying.

I bought this specifically for my wedding, so probably not a typical use case, and it worked perfectly. Expensive, yes, but less than hiring someone and for an event that important I wanted a product I had zero concerns of failure with. I certainly hope and expect to find more uses for it moving forward.

To keep expenses down I was handling sound and video, and with COVID we elected to keep the attendees low and stream online for others to watch. I had the Bose S1 Pro set up with the wired microphone in one input, my laptop in the second, one of the guest’s phones connected over Bluetooth, and the audio out hooked up to the mic input of my laptop.

The guest with the phone had audio files I had given him and instructions for when to hit play for each, that worked in tandem with the mic for speeches, afterward I was able to play music from my computer while we all celebrated, and all the audio was clear and crisp to the attendees and picked up perfectly by the streaming software and recording software on my computer. All of this done without needing to run extension cords from a power outlet.

Everyone who watched the stream agreed the audio was far better than other similar “remote” weddings they had seen, and I was easily able to use it when making the final video. Huge win and 100% worth the cost!
